The IX International Gas Congress started its work in Turkmenistan

On May 23, 2018 in the National Tourist Zone "Avaza" the IX International Gas Congress of Turkmenistan started its work. The largest specialized forum was organized by the State Concern “Turkmengaz” and the Dutch company “KHB Holland”.

About 400 delegates participated in the work of the IX International Gas Congress of Turkmenistan, including representatives of the European Union, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the CIS and other countries. From the Turkmen side, the forum was attended by the members of the government, heads of branch state concerns, research centers and higher educational institutions.

The Address of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the participants of the Congress was listened with great attention. Expressing confidence that the forum will become an effective platform for the exchange of experience and stipulate the expansion of international cooperation in the gas sphere, the head of state wished its participants success and fruitful work.

During the meetings, the representatives of the structural units and departments of the domestic fuel and energy complex acquainted the participants with the potential of the country's gas production and processing industry. To fully implement the huge potential of the state in the fuel and energy complex, the Concept for the development of the gas industry of Turkmenistan was developed. It covers all areas - geological exploration, drilling, extraction, transportation, storage, processing of gas and, accordingly, the creation of a modern production infrastructure.

Discussing the initiatives of the Turkmen leader in the sphere of diversifying energy supplies to countries for sustainable development, the speakers emphasized the strategic importance of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline for the region.

The forum also discussed the development of the country's gas processing industry. As the speakers noted, in this industry, large-scale work is being done to create new oil and natural gas processing capacities that produce a variety of oil and gas chemical products that are in demand both on the domestic and foreign markets.

The forum participants considered topical issues of the global energy market development, energy security and Turkmenistan's role as the most important supplier of gas to the world markets. Among the topical issues also on the agenda was diversification of export routes for energy supplies, international cooperation, priority areas for investments in the development of the gas sector of Turkmenistan, development of national and regional gas transportation infrastructure.
