TURKMENISTAN'S JIU-JITSU TEAM TAKES THIRD PLACE AT ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
On July 10 to 16, 2018 in the city of Aktau (Republic of Kazakhstan) the Asian Championship in jiu-jitsu among men's and women's teams has been held. Competitions were held in the sports complex "Mangystau Arena".
More than 400 athletes from 20 countries took part in the championship. This championship was represented by the rules of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation (JJIF) in the sections of fighting, "non-vase", duo and contact systems.
The national team of Turkmenistan in the championship was represented by 24 sportsmen. The prize-winners of international tournaments, gold and silver medalists of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games were among them. The sports delegation also included the trainers of the team - Alan Niyamengliev, Shokhrat Annamuhammedov, Dovletmyrat Kasymov and the judges - Rustem Imamkuliyev and Leila Kuliyeva.
The following athletes became the winners of the Asian-2018 championship, taking first place in their weight categories in contact jiu-jitsu: MergenTejenov (94kg), Serdar Khodzhamukhammedov (92kg), Rustam Rozmetov (77kg), Batyr Durdiev (56kg).
In the women's part of the championship, the first places were won by: in contact jiu-jitsu Sabina Agadzhanova (over 70 kg), Veronika Rus (55 kg), Avezmetova Sayara (49 kg), in the discipline of "non-vase" Aysoltan Garchovova (over 70 kg), Filipova Angelina (55 kg), which made a significant contribution to the achievements of the national team of Turkmenistan.
According to the results of the Asian championship-2018 on jiu-jitsu, Turkmenistan in the overall standings took 3rd place among 20 countries that took part in the competitions. Turkmenistan athletes won 9 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze medals.
