TURKMENISTAN PROVIDES HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO THE IRANIAN PEOPLE

Based on friendly, fraternal and neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and Iran, in order to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the earthquake that occurred in the Iranian province of Kermanshah, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed an ordinance according to which a number of ministries and organizations were ordered to donate humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

On July 23, 2018, the humanitarian cargo shipped by the plane was delivered and handed over to the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Turkmenistan was among the first to assist the fraternal people of the neighboring country. The Governor of Kermanshah province Hushang Bazvand addressed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with words of boundless gratitude.

An ancient tradition to maintain and develop friendly ties with the peoples-neighbors, and, if necessary, to extend the hand of help exists at Turkmens for centuries, passing from generation to generation. The natural catastrophe that occurred in the southeast of Iran resulted in destruction, which affected the local population. Turkmenistan, guided by the principles of humanism and charity, responded to the news of the disaster and sent humanitarian aid to the Iranian people.

Great importance is attached to strengthening and expanding the humanitarian dialogue between the two states. Regular reciprocal Days of Culture held in the capitals of Turkmenistan and Iran, as well as scientific forums, served to enrich spiritual traditions.

The current humanitarian action testifies to the success of the foreign policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan, and will also serve to strengthen relations between the two neighboring states, becoming another vivid example of the inviolability of the traditions of friendship and good neighborliness.
