THE ISSUES OF TURKMEN-GERMAN INTERACTION HAD BEEN DISCUSSED

On 18 September 2019, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan Neithart Höfer-Wissing.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the key aspects of the “Road Map” of intensifying cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and contractual-legal spheres.  The vital role of the visits on high level in strengthening bilateral ties, as well as the effectiveness of regular holding of the consultations between the external policy agencies of the two countries were noted.  The parties noted the closeness of positions in regard to pertinent issues of the global agenda that is reflected on the successful cooperation in the framework of the respected international organizations, particularly the UN and the OSCE.    

Speaking about the development of economic ties, the diplomats underlined the significance of joint Turkmen-German Working Group on economic cooperation and viewed the opportunities of improving the trade relations between the countries. 

The parties also spoke about the cultural-humanitarian cooperation.  The joint cultural events are being organized during many years; the cooperation in the area of education is strengthening.

After expressing his gratitude to the Turkmen side for warm wishes on the appointment to the high diplomatic post, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Turkmenistan expressed hope for further strengthening of Turkmen-German relations.   

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan in the Federal Republic of Germany T.Atayev also participated to the meeting.
