TURKMENISTAN IS ELECTED TO THE VICE-CHAIRMANSHIP OF THE 75TH SESSION OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Turkmenistan is elected to the vice-chairmanship of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN informed about this on June 29, 2020.

It is pertinent to note that our country is being elected to the vice-chairmanship of the UN General Assembly session for the sixth time. Previously Turkmenistan was elected to the 58th, 62nd, 64th, 68th and 71st sessions in this status.

The successive assignment of this honorable mission serves as a vivid proof of high international standing of Turkmenistan, constructiveness of the external political course implemented by the Head of State that is based on the principles of positive neutrality, peace-loving, good neighborhood and wide international cooperation which meets common interests.

The close cooperation of Turkmenistan with the UN gained new impulse, primarily in the context of implementing the important international initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. As the Head of State underlines, Turkmenistan does not limit itself only to proposing important initiatives aimed at strengthening of wide international partnership, but also adopts measures on their practical implementation.

Among one of its priority missions as a neutral state, Turkmenistan sees the affirmation of the culture of dialogue while resolving the matters and discrepancies arising. As is known, on September 12 of previous year, the UN General Assembly unanimously and in co-sponsorship of 73 member-states adopted a Resolution initiated by Turkmenistan on declaring the year of 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
