World championship of Ahalteke horses 2026
For the first time in history, the world’s finest Akhal-Teke horses will gather on one international stage. From 4 to 6 September 2026, Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in the Netherlands will host the World Championship of Beauty of Akhal-Teke Horses — a landmark celebration of beauty, tradition, sport, and culture in the heart of Europe.
Known as the “Soul of the Turkmen People,” the Akhal-Teke is one of the oldest and most distinctive purebred breeds on earth. Famous for its metallic coat sheen, graceful movement, and proud temperament, it has inspired rulers and horsemen for millennia. This championship is more than a competition: it is a journey into Turkmen heritage and a living tribute to the timeless bond between horse and human.
Visitors will find an atmosphere where elite equestrian competition meets authentic cultural discovery. Alongside the world championship and beauty show, the programme includes an exhibition of Turkmen culture and traditions — national costumes, traditional horse tack, and handmade carpets — as well as an open conference of the International Association of Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding (IAAA) and an international scientific forum on gene-pool preservation, training, and the breed’s future in modern sport.
Entry for all visitors is free. The venue is Peelbergen Equestrian Centre, Travers 5, 5976 NJ Kronenberg, Netherlands. Registration, tickets, and media accreditation: peelbergen.eu | csi@peelbergen.eu | +31 (0) 6 38273834.
