Flower-laying ceremony for the monument of Magtymguly Fragi took place in Ankara

On June 27, 2023, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkiye organized a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the great Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli Fragi in the park "Turkmenistan" of the city of Ankara, dedicated to the Makhtumkuli Pyragy’s Poetry Day.

The event was attended by ambassadors from several countries, representatives of the parliament and various ministries and departments of the Republic of Türkiye, well-known writers and public figures, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, students, and the media.

Speakers at the solemn ceremony noted the humanistic message and the huge contribution of the work of the greatest Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy to enrich the treasury of world literature and understanding of the mental values of the Turkmen people. The importance of the dialogue of cultures and popularization of the historical and spiritual heritage of the poet was emphasized.

Also, during this event was noted that by the decision of the 39th meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the TURKSOY member countries, 2024 was declared the year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world, Magtymguly Fragi.

On the eve of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet, on May 24, 2023, the specialized agency of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) included the collection of manuscripts of Magtymguly Fragi in the Memory of the World register.

After the completion of the flower-laying ceremony, all participants of the event and guests were treated to the Turkmen national dish palov.
