TURKMENISTAN AND THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA DISCUSSED ISSUES OF COOPERATION IN THE CULTURAL-HUMANITARIAN SPHERE
On March 4, 2019, there was a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the delegation of the Republic of Korea, headed by the Director General for Public Diplomacy and Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Hong Seok In, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
At the beginning of the meeting, speaking about the great potential for developing cooperation in various directions, the parties, first of all, discussed issues of further expansion of bilateral relations in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, which is an integral part of the interaction of these relations. Thus, the sides exchanged views on the Draft Agreement in the sphere of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea which is as awaited shall be signed during the visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan.
The sides exchanged views on the accumulated positive experience of cooperation in the form of jointly held events, such as Days of Culture, concerts with the participation of artists of the two countries, both on a bilateral basis and in the framework of cooperation in the Central Asia+Korea forum. Speaking about the ongoing exchanges in these areas on a regular basis, the Korean side noted the importance of the permanent exhibition of Turkmenistan in Seoul Museum “Culture of the World” opened in 2016.
The parties also discussed issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in the field of education. Proposals for cooperation between universities, including between the diplomatic institutions of the two countries were proposed. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the positive experience of cooperation in the field of sports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Hong Seok In expressed his satisfaction with the current state of cooperation and expressed confidence that a huge amount of work will continue to be carried out to develop friendly relations between the two countries.
