International transport conference started work in Ashgabat

Today, on May 3, 2023, the international conference and exhibition "International transport and transit corridors: interconnectedness and development-2023" began its work in Ashgabat.

Heads of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, heads of official delegations of foreign states, heads and representatives of international and regional organizations, representatives of scientific, expert and business communities in the field of transport attend the conference.

As President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized in his Address to the participants of the II International Conference and Exhibition, this representative forum will give a significant impetus to the further development of our partnership and the creation of a reliable base for regional transport infrastructure.

The international conference, which will be held for two days, opens with the plenary session "International transport and logistics: challenges and opportunities". During the meeting, the leaders of the transport sector of Turkmenistan, as well as the heads of delegations of foreign states, international and non-governmental organizations in the field of transport will present their vision of new challenges and opportunities in modern realities, trends and prospects for the development of global trade, in the context of a rapidly changing economic situation. There will also be an exchange of views on the role of transport and logistics infrastructure in facilitating and increasing international trade, the importance of interstate cooperation in the development and activation of international transport and transit corridors.

During the conference, session discussions will be held on the topics: "Transport and logistics interconnectedness in the modern economy", "Recent trends in digitalization in trade and logistics", "Trade and industry: development and cooperation", "The role of public-private partnership in the development of connectivity of transport and logistics infrastructure” and “Innovative technologies, science and education in the transport and logistics sector - a look into the future”, during which the participants will have the opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of topical issues of cooperation in the field of transport.

Within the framework of the international conference, a number of side events are organized for participants, including panel discussions, bilateral meetings, negotiations and signing of documents.

As is known, Turkmenistan actively participates in the development and strengthening of international cooperation on sustainable and safe transport, takes initiatives for a broad multilateral consideration of the issues of ensuring stable and reliable international transport, as well as the adoption of important documents within the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN.

At the initiative of Turkmenistan, in 2014, 2015 and 2017, the Resolutions of the UN General Assembly on international cooperation in the field of transport were adopted. In 2016, the first UN conference on sustainable transport was held in Ashgabat.
