Briefing dedicated to the transport initiatives of Turkmenistan
On November 29, 2018 there was a briefing in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with participation of the representatives of national and foreign mass media and representatives of the Embassies and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, which was dedicated to the international initiatives of Turkmenistan in the field of transport and transit corridors.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Motor transport of Turkmenistan, Mr. Umberto De Pretto, Secretary General of International Road Transport Union, Ms. Natalia Gherman, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Asia, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Mr. V.Guminsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee - the Executive Secretary of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), N.Drozd, Head of OSCE Center in Ashgabat delivered speeches at the briefing.
Participants were briefed about the successes of the transport diplomacy of Turkmenistan. In their speeches speakers underlined the role of the state policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on creation of the transport infrastructure in the country as a crucial factor of economic and social development. Favorable and safe international corridors are created in the country with engagement of rail, motor, air and water transport that will provide sustainable development in the region and will promote buildup of good-neighborly relations, reinforcement of the cooperation and increase in trade turnover volumes between states.
Taking active position in terms of the consolidating the common efforts in this area, including in the format of United Nations and other prestigious international organizations, Neutral Turkmenistan initiates and jointly with foreign partners implements large-scale infrastructure projects and brings in a valuable contribution to establishment of the combined transport infrastructure both on regional and global levels.
