MEETING OF THE NATIONAL LEADING AND COORDINATING COMMITTEE OF THE PARTNERSHIP FRAMEWORK DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR 2016-2020
On the 15th of February 2019, a meeting of the National Leading and Coordinating Committee of the Partnership Framework Development (PFD) Program between Turkmenistan and the UN for 2016-2020 was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The representatives of the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, Permanent UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of UN agencies and public organizations attended the meeting. During their opening speeches, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Permanent UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan particularly noted the importance of the meeting from the standpoint of analyzing results of PFD of 2018 as well as the goals planned for the current year.
During the session, five different spheres of activities were noted in the framework of PFD, the effective implementation of which directly affects the qualitative preparation of the National Voluntary Review of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this regard, reports were presented in the sphere of regulation and supremacy of law, economic diversification and energy efficiency, as well as statistical data, social services and ecological sustainability.
During the meeting it was outlined that Turkmenistan actively cooperates with the UN agencies, while realization of the Sustainable Development Goals coherently correlates with the national development programs. Also, it was noted that the amounts of co-financing made by Turkmenistan in the framework of UN significantly increased in last years.
