MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE UAE DISCUSSED THE KEY ASPECTS OF BILATERAL COOPERATION

On June 22, 2020, the online talks were held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The parties stated the high level of bilateral cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The significance of high-level contacts in the context of advancing the Turkmen-Emirates ties was highlighted.

The counterparts noted the efficiency of collaboration between the external policy agencies of the two countries and similarity of the standpoints on the key aspects of regional and international agenda. The fruitfulness of cooperation in the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN was underlined.

Touching upon the coronavirus pandemic in the world, the diplomats underlined the necessity of uniting the efforts of the research centers of two countries, applying the mechanisms of the scientific diplomacy.

The Ministers stated the importance of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates and marked the preliminary dates for holding its next session. The issues on expanding the trade-economic cooperation and supporting the positive dynamics of trade turnover were discussed.

The importance of further strengthening the humanitarian ties between the two countries, expanding cooperation in such areas as science and education was underlined.
